Double Drap Saree style

 

 

For wearing a saree get a matching petticoat and blouse. First wear petticoat and blouse.

1. Hold upper edge of the saree from inner plain end and wrap around yourself in anticlockwise direction. Tuck the top border of the saree in to the petticoat in such a way so that the Saree may fall up to the floor level.
2. Now take the pallu part of the saree and wrap around yourself again in anticlockwise direction.
3. Keep the pallu on your left shoulder allowing it to fall on your back.
4. Take the loose (right) side of the saree,  where saree has been tucked ended and with the help of your hands starts pleating the remaining saree into 5-6 inches wide pleat. Hold the pleats together and arrange the pleats so that the bottom of edge of the saree should touch the floor level and tuck the pleats into petticoat slightly the left of the navel. 
5. Take the saree and wrap it around  you in anticlockwise keeping lower border of the saree just below the knee.
6. The pallu of the saree also be arranged in different styles like make 4—5 pleats and pinned up with the blouse at the back of the left shoulder allowing pallu to fall in front (Gujarati style). Alternately the pallu can be left to cover the whole left arm. 

Tamilian style of draping saree

Like maharastrian, tamilian saree is 8-9 yard long. Draping saree is much similar to maharastra in tamil.

1. Take one end of saree and make almost 9-10 pleats (lengthwise). 
2. wrap the saree arround yourself so that the pleats comes behind you. 
3. Wrap the saree around your body and make a knot in the front at the navel. Do not dsturb the Pleats. The pleat should comfortably dangle. 
4. tuck the loose ends on your right and left at your waist. tuck it firmly. 
5. Make the pleat (width of the saree) and bring the whole saree to the back under your legs. 
6. Tuck the saree at the back (waist line). 
7. Bring around the saree thro' your left after tucking the shorter edge slightly at your right. 
8. Bring the saree around your body again 
9. Pass it on to your right shoulder arranging the border. 
10. Bring the border around and tuck in the front. 

Maharastrian style of draping saree:

In Maharashtra, a special saree called “maharastrian nauvari sari” is 9 yard long. It is draped without a petticoat.

1. Hold the saree in such a way that divides the saree in two parts – one of which is roughly a quarter of the saree hold it to your right hand and the rest of the saree is at the left hand.
2. Tie a tight knot using a bit of sari from both the sides. This knot will serve as a petticoat.
3. Now drape the longer part of the saree at the left side like a normal saree. One layer is wrapped around. Pallu is draped over the shoulder and pleats are tucked into the knotted part.
4. Pleat the smaller portion of the saree at the right side with loosely hangs. Make the pleats less wide. Hold the pleats together and take in between the legs and tuck them at behind. This can also be secured with a pin.
5. Cover the right shoulder with the pallu from behind.

Bengali style of draping saree:-

Mostly wide border cotton base saree is used to drape saree in Bengali style. There are less and wide pleats in this style. For wearing a saree get a matching petticoat and blouse. First wear petticoat and blouse. Here are the further instructions of draping saree in Bengali style.

1. Hold upper edge of the saree from inner plain end and wrap around yourself in anticlockwise direction. Tuck the top border of the saree in to the petticoat in such a way so that the Saree may fall up to the floor level.
2. Make two wide pleats (keep wrapping up to your left thigh then reverse back from inner side up to your right thigh then repeat this for 2^nd pleat).
3. Hold the pleats together and arrange the pleats so that the bottom of edge of the saree should touch the floor level and tuck the pleats into petticoat at the center of the navel keeping face of the pleat left.
4. Now take the top border of the saree and keep it on your left shoulder and make pleats up to the bottom border then pinup the pleats with your blouse.
5. Now pull the saree in front of you between your right hand and body. Pull the saree until there is enough length to wrap around to your mid back and pined up there.
6. Now take the top border of pallu, tie something heavy in the upper corner of the pallu and throw it to back side and allow it to fall down through your right or left shoulder. If you need you can pined up the pallu with blouse.

Gujarati style of draping saree:-

Gujarati woman wear saree in a different way where the pallu is kept in the front. For wearing Guajarati style saree get a matching petticoat and blouse and first wear petticoat and blouse.

1. Hold upper edge of the saree from inner plain end and wrap around yourself in anticlockwise direction. Tuck the top border of the saree in to the petticoat in such a way so that the Saree may fall up to the floor level.
2.  Now take the pallu part of the saree and wrap around yourself again in anticlockwise direction.
3. Keep the pallu on your left shoulder allowing it to fall on your back.
4. Take the loose (right) side of the saree, where saree has been tucked ended and with the help of your hands starts pleating the remaining saree into 5-6 inches wide pleat. Hold the pleats together and arrange the pleats so that the bottom of edge of the saree should touch the floor level and tuck the pleats into petticoat at the center of the navel keeping face of the pleat right.
5. Make pleats in pallu of the saree and brought forward from the back by draping it over the right shoulder and pinup the pallu with the blouse. The left edge of pallu is tucked in at the extreme left side of the petticoat. The portion of the pallu which is left to hang behind appears in a j-shaped arc at the back.
